The Beirut Night is Orange – photo calendar by Alex Høgh Andersen

Since 2018, actor and photographer Alex Høgh Andersen has been a Danish Red Cross Youth ambassador. In 2023, with “Operation Dagsværk”, he travelled to Lebanon as a photographer to support the campaign “Youth saving lives in Lebanon”, a collaboration between Operation Dagsværk, Lebanese Red Cross, Danish Red Cross, and Danish Red Cross Youth. Alex has provided all the photos for this calendar, and by buying it you support the project.

When Lebanon is hit by a disaster or by conflict, young Red Cross volunteers get in their ambulances, rushing to help people in need. The project “Youth saving lives in Lebanon” contributes to maintain the ambulance service as a critical function of society in Lebanon, where young volunteers are taught lifesaving first aid, search and rescue, medical understanding, rescue technique, mental first aid, mental health, self-comfort, and well-being. Additionally, the project provides the opportunity for young volunteers to be certified humanitarian front runners, being trained in recruiting, coordination, and decision making.
